The Lentos building not only
houses the Art Museum – it is
also an architectural work of
art in itself. What an inspiring
place to listen to the signals of
the ships sailing on the Danube
directly in front of you and to
watch the play of sunlight in
the futuristic glass facade
and just lose yourself in your
creative thoughts.


There is also digital art on
the opposite bank at the
Ars Electronica Center, which
shows you the technologies
of the future. But if that’s
too futuristic for you, you
can also find the municipal
dental museum within
walking distance.

A symphony of flowers 


When entering the castle
garden for the first time,
you might think that you
accidentally got lost in a fairy
tale. No wonder! Translated, its
name means something like
“admirable and beautiful” and
that is exactly what it is: a place
where you can get spellbound.
It is a place where you can
never see enough, especially
not of its flowers.
Every detail seems like an
attempt to capture something
special about the world that
one does not yet know. If you
long for a touch of magic in
everyday life, you’ve come to
the right place.


The selection of sights in the
world heritage-listed city
center is large, but here are a
few highlights: Hohensalzburg
Fortress, Mozart’s birthplace
and residence, and the
Salzburg Cathedral.

Villach’s own mountain


The Dobratsch is not only the
local mountain of the Villach
people but also the best view
of the city below. Equipped
with binoculars and a snack,
you can really stay up there for
hours and just watch. While
you let the view work its magic,
you can feel how time goes
by a little slower and stress
dissolves.


Since Dobratsch is just west
of Villach, a visit to the comedy
capital of Austria is a good
idea. But beware of the jesters!

A beautiful tradition


The Wachau is an utter feast
for the senses all year round.
Depending on where you
go, you’ll smell ripe apricots
or grapes. You can see the
blue Danube, which draws its
picturesque curves through
the valley, and Dürnstein Castle
towering high above. At this
particular place you can enjoy
the view of the coming grape
harvest, take a little break, and
think about the many ways that
nature can be beautiful.


The Melk Abbey, generally
known as one of the most
famous buildings of the
late baroque, can hardly be
surpassed in its pomp and
glamor and is one of the most
popular tourist attractions in
the Wachau.

The Grüner See (Green Lake)
really deserves its name.
Its crystal-clear water absorbs
red light components and
therefore appears greenishblue
in wonderful layers.
There are many places
here where you can take a
short break and relax. In the
background you can hear the
leaves in the trees rustling
gently in the wind and feel
the fresh coolness rising from
the lake. A paradisiacal place
that is really unique in so many
ways.


In order to marvel at the Grüner
See in all its splendor, you can
take a short hike around it,
which doesn’t take long and is
suitable even for beginners.
